Hi guys. Bit of help please. Have a 2009 is220d. 147k miles. For some reason it keep blowing thick white smoke before heating up from the exhaust. For around a minute or two then goes away. However now it won't just do it before heating up but after it heats too. The smoke also smells pretty bad too. It's just recently been fully serviced and also had a new egr valve.

I have a 2009 220d with cicra 130k miles on the clock, It has had intermittent rough idle for the last 2yrs, which has had persisted although the following have been replaced:
DPF (2wks ago), Fuel Rail, EGR valve, high-pressure pump, diesel-filter
I've also used BG244K and a number of other cleaning products, the car develops power ok and only has the idle problem
I'm aware that the 2AD isn't the smoothest of engines, but this idle is definitely not usual.
I've been to my local lexus dealer on a few occasions, but the issue did not present itself during any of the visits, i.e it idled smooth, and there were no significant pressure differences b/t injectors when the car was plug in to the diagnostics unit.
I've become convinced that it's injector issue, but don't want to buy a whole set of them due to the expense.
Has anyone experience of changing injectors in one of these, I'm considering buying 1No. injector with the same model number as the existing ones, and switching from cylinder to cylinder until I've found the faulty one. If the injector is the same model as the existing one, would the car need to be coded to it each time (I don't have a diagnostics unit to do the coding)?
Any alternative suggestions on the injectors or indeed any alternative suggestions in general would be gratefully welcomed!

I recently did the rear brake's and greased all the 4 slide pins. Now my breaks squeak. I don't know which one it is exactly since I can either drive or be outside to listen and there is no one to help me with this.... But it's loud squeak.

Recently my radio started playing some kind of game. When I drive past the Thames-link tunnel it stops what ever is playing radio/aux/disk and displays the message "ALARM". I have non-Sat-Nav unit without screen. That only happens in the Thames-link tunnel.
User manual states that this means emergency message is being broadcasted , similar to TA. However, it seems there are no ways to turn it off thought. Does anyone have seen this message before? I believe either my radio going mad or somebody is really trying to send distress signal in that tunnel (for a ~week, so might stop soon though :D).

Today I followed an IS 220D (07 plate) from Carlisle to Hexham. Every time he accelerated, great clouds of blue smoke emanated from the exhaust. Is this a known problem or is his engine on the way out?
ive had a few ls400s my brother has an is220d but im interested in an is250 preferrably a sport must be auto just wondered what to look out for regards steve

I was at Lexus Service and one shock absorber cost 320euro x 2 pieces left/right = 640euro without installation, expensive...

Who knows, what difference between ALE20 & GSE20?
I think I can use GSE20(IS250) shock absorber on my ALE20(IS220D)...

I have my eye on a used IS250 SE. Its a pearl white 2008 model with 83000kms (~52000 miles) and has the navigation, rear camera, auto with paddle shift, Mark Levinson sound etc. The car is in absolute mint condition was owned by one oldish guy and has a full service history at the Lexus dealerships. It is in such nice condition that it is hard to believe it is an 8 year old car.
I took it for a drive yesterday, and everything seemed absolutely perfect. Everything works fine except that the rear shade blinds are up and pressing the "Shade" button wont make it go down. Seems to be broken. Any idea what it could be?
I've read the IS250 common problems thread. How does one tell if the calipers are seized?
Aside from that; anything else I should look out for? Buying this car is quite a bold step for me and I need all the advice I can get on what to check. Are these anywhere near as reliable as the Gen1 IS200? I have one and although its 16 years old, its never given me a day's trouble.

I've noticed a leak on the near side front corner of my car, it looks and tastes like screen wash! I have been filling the reservoir much more frequently over the last 3 months so by process of elimination I've found the problem. Anyone had this problem before? Apart from a seized front calliper three years ago and this leak the car has been faultless. It sailed through its mot last week with 90k under its belt.
I hope it's an easy fix.
Hi , I want to buy something nice for me and after a month of searching I was stuck between few cars: bmw 320/520, audi a6, insignia and lexus is220 diesel.
I know I don't make to much mileage but I'm for a diesel ( now i have a saab 1.9tid 2006 120bhp with 204k miles on dash).
In my day and night crazy searching I tend the winner to be lexus , but still I'm confused because of so many complains about : not good mileage , head gasket issues, 5ft injector and small space for passanger.
My budget is around 5000£ and on that money I found is220 from 2006-2008 with 80k-103k miles on the dash . It will worth to go for this car ? It is so bad this engine ? I'm looking for a model with leather and nav , they are all have mark levinson audio system ? What model should I look for: SE , SE-L ?

Drove the car (IS250, 66k miles) today and air con was blowing cold air only. I have the air con set to 23 degrees and rarely change this unless the weather is hot. I checked the coolant level and it was below the minimum mark so topped up with the recommeded coolant. However, after a 20 minute drive the air was still blowing cold. The dash board temperature meter was normal at just under halfway. I checked the coolant level again and it was still at the max mark that I previously topped up to. I did notice that the radiator fans were on. Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem may be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So, I will shortly be the owner of this fine specimen. The Lexus has been fantastic, probably the best car I owned in my long list of motors. Felt like a change and this will certainly up the ante. I dont usually purchase a car so quickly but the seller and the car itself on this occasion ticked all the boxes.

Garage tried to change oil filter and I was told housing is siezed on. They had it on the ramp and swinging with a long bar with the correct removal tool.

Today has been a glorious day and I managed to valet the engine bay and boot area as well as conditioning the leather interior.
Had my first topless drive in the Lexus today, far more refined than the 9-5 Aero we had.
